Yellow Mandala Stud Earrings — Hand Painted Wood — One of a Kind
Some colors are a disposition. This yellow is one of them. It is the yellow of someone who has made their peace with being noticed and moved on to the more interesting question of what, exactly, they want people to see.
The ground is a warm citron yellow, alive with scattered black and white dash marks that read like a lively textile background. From the center, Audra has painted a mandala-like composition... a hot pink flower form at the heart, surrounded by radiating teal leaf shapes that reach toward the edges like petals of a second, larger bloom. The whole thing is contained within the small square of wood and sealed under a glassy varnish that makes the colors appear to vibrate slightly against each other, which is the correct response to this combination.
The backs carry the metallic gold finish. At three quarters of an inch, they hold more visual information than seems possible at that size.
One of a Kind Statement
Audra painted this pair, by hand, in her North Carolina studio.
