Prove Them Wrong is an oversized bouquet spilling out of a milk glass vase against a bright aqua background. Hot pink peonies, red roses, a blazing orange zinnia, purple coneflowers, periwinkle asters and sunny yellow blooms crowd together with tumbling green leaves, while drips and splatters run down the canvas as if the flowers refuse to stay put. Look closely and you'll find my pencil lines still dancing in the background, a reminder that this began as a blank canvas and one stubborn idea.

Painted by hand in my New Bern, North Carolina studio, this is a piece that owns a wall. It's made for above a sofa, a bed, a fireplace or a dining buffet, anywhere that could use color, energy and a little attitude.
