Periwinkle Floral Panel Hook Earrings — Hand Painted Wood — One of a Kind
The color blue has been associated with devotion for centuries, which may be why a periwinkle earring feels like a commitment. These feel like something between a vow and an indulgence.
The ground is a cool, clear periwinkle. Against it, Audra has painted two tiers of blooms in layered shades of pink, from pale blush to deep magenta, with rust-red petals scattered among them. The stems are rendered in cobalt, the leaves in the same blue, so the whole composition has the quality of a botanical print made on a day when the artist had access to too many beautiful pigments and made very good decisions about all of them.
Gold dot accents and gold-washed leaves appear throughout. The backs finish in metallic gold. These are elongated panels, two and a half inches long, moving gently with the wearer. The kind of earring that ends up in the regular rotation without anyone quite deciding that would happen.
