500 Miles

It started with no plan. Just paint on canvas and the instinct that it wanted to be big and colorful and full of flowers. The abstract underpainting came first, all movement and color and no fixed idea of what it would become. Then the florals emerged on their own, peonies and roses and blooms that just showed up and stayed, spilling out of a graphic black and white striped vase over a gold base against a navy sky that had been there all along waiting to be uncovered.

That is the thing about intuitive painting. You don't make the decisions. You just show up and pay attention.

This one was documented start to finish in a two-part reel on my social media channels if you want to watch it become itself. But even if you don't, you can see the whole story in the surface. The layers are real. The texture is real. The drips and splatters are evidence of every decision and every moment of letting go.

This is a one-of-a-kind original. Once it's gone, it's gone.

24x30 inches, acrylic and oil pastel on canvas with gloss varnish finish. Edges are 3/4" finished in navy blue. Signed on the front and signed and dated on the back. Ready to hang.
