Why I Use Too Much Packing Tape (And Why It Matters)
As a small business owner who makes and ships art and accessories, I used way too much packing tape on an order this morning, probably double what I needed. This order was going to New York, and I kept adding another strip, then another. Here's why I don't regret it: this person spent her hard-earned money on something we made. The least I can do is make sure it arrives perfectly.
We live in a world of "fast enough" and "good enough." But there's something quietly revolutionary about doing one small thing really well. Even if it's just wrapping a package.
Why Small Details Matter in Business
It made me think about all the invisible care we put into things. The way you arrange flowers even though guests are coming to dinner, not to judge your florals. The way you fold the towels even though no one will see inside the linen closet. The extra minute you spend on something that most people won't even notice.
When you're running a creative business, especially a small one where you're handling everything from creation to shipping, these moments of care add up. They're not about perfectionism. They're about respect.
Maybe that's what makes something special. Not that it's perfect, but that someone cared.
Your turn: What's something small you do with extra care, even when no one's watching? Tell me in the comments. I read every one.

If you're here because you appreciate the care that goes into handmade work, you might love what I'm making.
