Diving In and Current Obsessions
I've wanted to start a style blog for years but I've never had the guts. Who cares what I have to say and what do I know about style or fashion anyway? I love taking pictures but hate having them taken of myself so how is that going to work? You have to be in your twenties to have a blog anyway, right? Well, to hell with all that. I turned 40 this past year and I've actually never felt more myself than I have these past few months. I've always loved putting outfits together and I love dressing up and I'm tired of waiting for special occasions or worrying about what everyone might think or trying to fit in. Being a mother of three, my clothing budget is very small and my style is sort of all over the place. It won’t be everyone’s cup of tea but I wear what makes me feel happy and confident and I hope to inspire other women to do the same regardless of your age, style or budget.
My plan is to post outfits of the day a few days a week (mostly mine but some days the kids, too). I also hope to share tips on how I put outfits together, maybe deals and sales I find, what I usually look for while thrifting, current obsessions, pieces I can't live without, and of course, how I incorporate Audra Style jewelry and some behind the scenes in the studio. Heck, I might even share a recipe or diy or two. There are no rules! (Fyi... All of my images are pinable! Help me spread the word through Pinterest! Just hover over any image and click the red Pinterest icon to share to your boards.) So here goes... My current obsession is actual vintage or vintage style tees. I like to dress them down with jeans and boots or dress them up with skirts and heels. I look for them every where I go and I have a list of certain ones I'm on the hunt for. Jason got me a Queen tee for Christmas and I can't wait to wear it. Today I wore a Grateful Dead tee I got at Target a few months back.
This shirt has that super soft vintage feel to it that I love. This particular shirt is no longer available but a link to a similar shirt is posted below. It was also chilly today but I didn’t feel like wearing a heavy coat so I wore this fitted grey blazer I found at Goodwill. I would say about a third of the clothes in my closet are thrifted. It’s my favorite way to shop because it makes me think outside the box and because (duh) I can come away from it with a load of stuff for like $40! I love this blazer because it’s fitted without being tight and helps to dress up this tee but in a low key way.
I like wearing fitted tops and jackets when the legs of my pants are wide. And that brings me to my fa-vor-ite pair of jeans. I love... LOVE bell bottom or flare leg jeans but it’s so hard to find ones that are long enough because I like to wear them with heels. I like a fit and flare where they fit through the waist and thighs and flare past the knee. Not wide leg, but fit and flare. It's an important distinction! You just can’t find them in stores or not in stores around here. I ordered these online and they are THEE perfect length. They are Hudson Ferris Flares and you can find them at the link at the bottom of the page. *Confession... I bought them used off of Ebay because they are a little more than I like to spend on jeans but honestly, I am planning on buying another pair retail because They. Are. Worth. It.
And these boots... I mean, if you know me, you know I love a pointy toe shoe and these babies delivah! I’ve got them in red and black and I’m prolly gonna order the taupe ones because they are actually comfortable and I love them and so that is that. And they are from Target, can you even?? I wish they came in cobalt! Maybe pink or emerald green velvet! Yes. Sidenote.... If you are familiar with my jewelry line, you know my love for leopard print is real. So I literally gasped today when I saw this one lonely little pair of size nine leopard print booties at Wal-mart of all dang places! And even tough they are round toe they were on sale for $9! I had to get them. I had to. Super cute, right?
Last but not least are my matte silver medium feather drop earrings by yours truly. They are hand cut from reclaimed silver faux leather. So lightweight you will forget you are wearing them and always nickel free. I cut them so they curve slightly in so they frame your face nicely. They come in lots of colors and you can find them at the link below.
Of course, these little hams wanted in on the action. I mean, if your mama is on the ground, she has to be down there for you, right? And Vivian has zero nose pickin’ shame as you can see. 😂 Get it, girl!

Love your blog! And I ALWAYS love your pictures! You are beautiful and stylish. And most important, you are such a nice person. No need to be concerned about your age. Turning 40 is magical. You have a lot of life lessons under your belt and you know more about who you are, what you want and what you DON’T want!! Hang on because I think you are about to set the road on fire with your “passion for fashion”!!!!
